About the Author

Megan Chisholm was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She currently resides in Langley, British Columbia where she attends Walnut Grove Secondary School. She lives with her mother and brother, and two cats who are less then favourable. Her favourite pastimes include obsessing over boybands and watching Criminal Minds. This is her first attempt at writing a novel.

Overall View of Novel/Plot- 5 Questions Answered 24/9/15

  1. Protagonist: Female, aged 18 years and just graduated high school. Comes from a broken home, father and mother both equally have their own problems. Very confused character, questioning every aspect of her life. Trying to find happiness and stability in her life. Very sarcastic character; uses her humour as her escape from reality and her way of dealing with her dysfunctional family.
  2. What is his/her goal?: To find stability and meaning in her life. Plot wise, to go across the country to visit her mom and her ex-boyfriend.
  3. The main conflict: Her main conflict is to find stability and find her way. She’s confused and scared of her future, and she won’t have closer until she reunites wit her ex-boyfriend and her mother.
  4. What plot structure do you choose?: There is a mixture between more than one plot:  Master Plot #1: The Question – the protagonist’s search for a person, place or thing, tangible or intangible- she is in search of stability and her purpose in life. As well, subconsciously she is in search of true love but doesn’t grasp that until the end. 
  5. What do you want your novel to show/prove? : It’s a coming of age story directed at a younger audience. The character is facing a lot of challenges and decisions that all youth will experience in their life. I want readers to see this as  a light hearted, meaningful read. I want to get them to feel something and get something out of this novel.
